Halloween is a time of year that filled to brim with scary tales and superstitions, especially when it comes to black cats. The holiday season is when animals need loving the most, there are strange people around, scary noises, and odd decorations they've never seen before, or for those in shelters, it's finally their time to be adopted! But not black cats.
In fact, black cats have the lowest adoption rate out of all cats, and therefore the highest rate of euthanasia, all because of something that isn't their fault.
To help out some of these furry felines, an animal advocate and pet photographer for Los Angeles named Casey Elise Christopher took a series of photos to highlight the beauty and personality that black cats have. The cats featured below are from West Los Angeles Animal Services and Milo’s Sanctuary.
If you're looking to adopt a furring friend in the coming months please don't overlook black cats just because of their color. These babies deserve loving homes just as much as any other cat does, and by adopting you will be both saving their lives, and enriching yours. Look for black cats at your local shelter today!
