Loving Cat Returned To Animal Shelter For Being Too Cuddly

All cats deserve a loving and happy home. It's truly heartbreaking to hear stories of cats who aren't getting the care and affection they deserve. Cats are loving creatures and some people seem to underestimate the amount of care that they need. Which is why shelters are full of cats and kittens who have been neglected and abandoned.

All cats have different personalities, some are affectionate, some are greedy, but all cats are fiercely independent and deserving of a good home. Meet Jacque; a three-year-old ginger cat, who has a lot of love to give. But it is that same amount of love that has caused him to be rejected, for being too cuddly.

Jacque first found himself in a shelter at seven months old; when his owner moved house and didn't take Jacque with them.

The owner and president of Michigan Cat Rescue, Nancy Hutchinson, told The Dodo that Jacques "was found in a house that was foreclosed upon. The person who owned him left him there and didn't care."

"He was found by the realtor and brought into the shelter. This happens quite often, sadly," Hutchinson explained.

The shelter was overcrowded, and poor Jacques found himself of the euthanasia list.

Hutchinson visited the shelter and met Jacques. He climbed onto her lap for a cuddle and Hutchinson took pity on him and took him to her cat rescue shelter, Michigan Cat Rescue.

There, Hutchinson advertised Jacques as a "lap cat." He was adopted a woman, but their companionship was short-lived.

"After about a year, she said she didn't want him anymore," Hutchinson explained, sadly. "She said, 'He's constantly trying to sit in my lap-- I just can't stand it anymore. I'll have to return him to you. This is not what I signed up for.'"

When Jacques was returned to the shelter he was quite unwell. Jacques was confused and hurt by the rejection and didn't eat for a couple of days.

When searching for a new home for Jacques, the rescue centre tried a lot harder to find the perfect family.

They received a lot of applications and finally found a good match. When Liz Myzuik and her husband met Jacques they fell in love with him instantly. They decided to adopt him and take him to live with them, forever this time. They have since changed his name to Giuseppe.

Hutchinson is so relieved to find the loving cat a good home!

"We were so upset when he was returned to us by his owner. I was just so heartbroken for him, and I can tell that it hurt him as well. So to find him the perfect him is just a beautiful, beautiful thing. It makes me cry because that's why we don all of this, and that's why we struggle every day just to save their lives so they have good happy lives."
