The only thing missing from this video being an accurate real-life making of 'The Lion King', would be Rafiki holding up the new cub to the Pride Lands!!
For 6 weeks, the cub's 2 year old father Tobias, sister Kamara, and aunt Sabi were never far from him, even though a mesh fabric wall divided the family. All the while, mama lioness Neliah, was able to have time to focus solely on bonding with her new baby.
“This process helps him know who his protector is, who is mom is,” said Andrew Haertzen, one of the zookeepers who has worked with the cub’s pride. “Moving too quickly can harm his development.”
Upon the official face to face meeting, it was said that the family was "obsessed with the cub."
I mean, who wouldn't be?
Did your heart swell?! I know mine sure did. Insert all the heart emojis!!!
The public got to help decide what to name this adorable 12lb ball of energy. They had three to choose from.
The names in the running were-
Meru is the name of a mountain in Tanzania.
Moremi is the name of a game reserve in Botswana.
Tatu is the Swahili word for the number 3. This is Neliah's third cub.
The winner? TATU!!!
It was announced October 1st!
