Texas Officer Of The Year Rescues Two Kittens And They Cannot Stop Cuddling Him

A routine shoplifting call turned into a heroic rescue for two police officers in Texas and two precious, little kittens. Officers Adkins and Hillard had just finished dealing with the call to TJ Maxx in Arlington, Texas and were headed out to their vehicles when a woman flagged them down for assistance.

Being flagged down by random citizens could be for a wide variety of reasons, but that day was something special for the officers because of the reason she needed their help! She told the officers there were two, very small kittens under her car! When Adkins crouched down to the ground to peek, sure enough, two tiny, fury faces peeked back at him! In an interview with The Dodo, Jesse Minton, of the Arlington Police Department said:

They located the kittens inside the bumper where most likely the mother cat had placed them for some reason.

As soon as the kittens saw the face staring back at them, they began to meow relentlessly.

Minton said, "The owner of the car advised she did not own a cat and had no idea how the kittens got in there."

Officer Adkins reached under the car and scooped the kittens up, one at a time, before bringing them back to his vehicle.

Once in the safety of his vehicle, the kittens clung to Adkins, refusing to break the cuddle party they surely needed with their hero!

Like a true animal hero, Adkins brought the tiny kittens to the veterinarian where he learned they were just under 6 weeks old and other than being very hungry they were in phenomenal health!

From there, Adkins fed the kittens formula from a bottle and his heart melted. Looking at the tiny kittens he rescued, he decided right then and there that he should adopt them, and he did!

Amusingly, Minton said, "He thinks he may name them ‘TJ’ and ‘Max.'"

In a light-hearted post on Facebook, The Arlington Police Department appreciated Officer Adkins and the kitten-rescue, and people loved it!

One fan said, "that is the best thing on Facebook today. So much crap going on in the world, we need a little love and hope to take over the hate. Thanks APD."

Earlier this year, Officer Adkins won he South District Officer of the Year Award, give a speech while his family watched, and bring home a trophy! It's safe to say TJ and Maxx are in good hands!
